Emotional Intelligence Training

Course overview

Emotional Intelligence Training: Emotional Intelligence is approached in multiple ways by its propagators. The approaches can be categorized primarily as two, the Trait Approach and the Competency Approach. We choose to approach training learners in Emotional Intelligence, the Competency way, naturally.

Insite does not intend to pass on merely, information about the subject available in the many books written of it so far, but rather is interested in developing relevant skills that will be of practical utility to learning participants.

Precept: CBT’s T>F>A which stands for Thoughts, Feelings and Actions, suggesting the interactions between Thoughts and Feelings producing our Actions, and further Actions producing Results is the basic precept on which our content is built.

Our program allows learners to assess the ‘Current’ category of overall Results they produce for themselves at work, and if unhappy, encourage them to cultivate new ways of Thinking which will influence new ways of Feeling and Acting, expected to produce New Results, is our fundamental philosophy of EI at Work.

What will Participants Learn?

Learn that fundamentally, developing high EQ concerns with consciously choosing New ways of thinking, determined by clear identification of desired Emotions and Feelings wished upon to be experienced at workplace, and further imbibing and practicing new Values, Belief Systems to enable the objective of achieving the goal(Results).

Learn that at Interpersonal levels, its about the ability to manage and handle one’s own, as well as other people’s emotions effectively.

How studies like CBT, and researches concerning Brain Imaging have contributed to our understanding of how Emotions are processed, along with the logical functions by the human brain.

Emotions have played a crucial part in our evolution and still play their role in our evolution as ‘matured individuals’. Emotions act as signals conveying important information for us to perceive and act upon them for our overall well being.

  • Simple steps and processes for achieving better Self Awareness
  • Skills for conveying and expressing Empathy
  • Techniques for better Self Management
  • Steps and Approaches for Self-Motivation

The true highlight of our workshop are excerpts borrowed from Transaction Analysis. We believe emphatically, the objective of EI is akin to strengthening our ‘Adult’ as against the Parent and Child explained by Dr. Eric Burn in his book Games People Play.

Adequate focus during workshop is given to building skills for Self Expression, handling difficult people and situations, where emotions run high, through Case Studies and Theatrics. Self Expression becomes the hallmark skill for exhibiting maturity and calm during interpersonal conflicts.

The philosophical takeaway considering interpersonal interactions from our workshop, is to realize that Emotions can be dealt in 3 ways:

  • Ignore them
  • Exhibit them
  • Express them

The best way is to Express them, when our emotions cause discomfort and negative mood swings, and Exhibit them if they are, by their own nature Positive.
